Web Design Trends for Summer 2019

Keep your website from looking dated

Website Design Trends for Summer 2019 Design trends can be fleeting, but your site can easily look stale and dated if you don't keep up with the latest styles, colors and formats for your online presence. You can keep things looking cutting-edge with just a few new elements. Some are simple enough that you can freshen things up without getting programmers involved. Minimalism Complex layouts and overfilled pages are definitely out this year. It's only natural to want to get your product or content right out there in front of viewers, but it's time to take a “less is more” approach. Keep your pages focused on just a few central elements, and allow for lots of clean white space for a minimalist look. Diversity This isn't so much about website design, but the approach to content and images. 2019 is all about inclusiveness, and your site should reflect that. The language you use and models you choose should span all manner of races, sizes, genders and everything in between. Surreal and Abstract Illustrations It's time to get creative with illustrations, and leave the standard realism behind. Abstract shapes and unusual graphics are making a come-back and are a bold way to set your page apart. Swirls, zig-zags, blobs, and all kinds of contrasting color can be the way to go. Micro Animations Everyone knows that video is highly engaging and should be included in most websites to some degree. But these days, it's more trendy to keep visitors' attention with smaller interactions and animations. Little pop-ups and alert graphics make the experience more personal that just a big video that dominates the page. Make it Mobile This isn't exactly a new trend for 2019 but it is a very important ongoing one that has been at the forefront of web design for a few years now. All websites simply must be designed with smaller mobile screens in mind. Navigation must be easy to use, content must be clear and sites must have a fast loading speed. Anyone watching their data usage isn't going to sit around waiting for a slow page to come up. Studies have shown that you have 3 seconds to keep someone's attention, or they'll click away and you've lost your chance. This actually applies to any website, mobile or not. Asymmetrical Grids The grid layout is still going strong but this year is bringing some small changes to it. Rather than the standard rigid square alignments, try shifting things around so that it's not quite so even. Orient your blocks on the diagonal, for example, or experiment with varying grid sizes. Support a Cause While not a design issue per se, it has become much more prevalent to have a website reflect business policies that support worthwhile causes. Politics can be a risky one since it can alienate possible customers who disagree, but showing that your company stands with a charitable organization of some sort is all the rage right now. The environment, human rights, poverty or whatever you feel strongly about. Use your website to highlight this, and encourage visitors to get involved too. These are just a few of the trends getting hot in 2019. Good classic (and highly functional) web design never goes out of style.
