Your Business Website - When to Hire a Professional

September 26, 2019

"I built myself for free in under an hour" is not plan for success.

If you are a business owner, you likely know the importance of having a website that your customers can go to so that they can learn more about your organization. Not only is a website absolutely critical in helping you to create visibility and brand awareness, but the failure to have one could cost you business, and a lot of it. Business websites can be used to accomplish a variety of marketing strategies that are integral to drive business growth. Today’s “worldwide web” can reach more customers than any other form of advertising. Though it does take time to create traffic to your website, once you have a great website, it doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg (or cause the company to put up any collateral) to drive more traffic your way. Your website must be the central point of your organization’s online presence. All marketing programs are then designed to drive traffic to your website so that the customer can learn more. For this reason, it is absolutely imperative that your business website is well-designed, highly intuitive, and serves the purpose that customers expect (purchase, education, etc.). Knowing when a professional needs to step-in With the importance and significance that your website has for your organization, going it alone is not always the best choice. The ability to create an excellent customer experience when the consumer arrives on your site and establishing credibility, are vital to sales. Thus, the five reasons we have outlined below articulate why a professionally created website is vital to the growth and overall health of your business.

  1. Search engine optimization (SEO) - SEO is critical in helping your business to be found. If you don’t have an SEO background or understand the significance, you may inadvertently make mistakes in the design of your website, and you won’t be found by the customers that you want to be able to find you. Quite simply, your site needs to be optimized if you want to be found.
  2. User experience - If your customers get frustrated with the navigation of your website, they are highly likely to leave the site and go to one of your competitors. Though we all want customers to click through the site and spend as much time there as possible, we don’t want this to be the case when they are trying to find something and are growing frustrated because they cannot.
  3. Design - It is important that your website lives and breathes your brand. If a customer sees a display banner, receives a direct mail piece, or is exposed to your brand in any other way and then arrives to your site and it looks like a hodge-podge of content or an entirely different company, then they are going to get confused. And confused customers aren’t good for anyone, especially your brand.
  4. Technologies - Today’s websites include smart bots, chatbots, and a host of other technologies that can improve the website experience. Professional website designers can work with you to implement the strategies that make sense for your site and that align the most with your business website goals and objectives.
  5. Webmaster - Last but not least, a webmaster can look out for your site and ensure that it continues to operate efficiently and effectively. Allowing a professional to do this allows you to focus on your business, and further allows you to rest assured that your business is covered. If you don’t have a web background, you may have no idea that your website is not performing as it should. Webmasters can monitor traffic, messages, common searches, etc., and can provide ongoing advisement on where further enhancements and investments should be made.
